R*n 953: Lancaster

Sunday 25th October 2026 at 11:00am Daytime

What a day for a hash, should we stay in cozied up and safe or brave the hash? Well if Sir Tom Tom can lay the trail in what can be described as force 10 bordering hurricane conditions, we have to be brave and not wonder why the hell are we doing this. Get out there.

With the wind trying its best to remove the flour and send it out into Morecambe Bay, and not to mention the cheeky magpie seen happily tucking into a pile of flour tucked in behind a lamppost. We set off! We are hashers who bravely go around following piles of flour, and this time it was around the very scenic parts of Lancaster and along the canal to the Beer Stop - The Water Witch where we took shelter and enjoyed the warmth and swapped hash notes with the visiting hounds H2O,Not Long Enough, and Just Sophie.

Eventually we gathered up and set off out into the wild weather. It was a good job that it was an STT trail, the mountains of flour and chalk marks that had been put out with the dawn chorus (if there had been one but even the birds didn't put their beaks out of their nests early on), survived the conditions.

Out uphill and down again past many a fallen branch, twig, tree, to the On Inn. What a day to welcome some visitors who were attending this kennel for the first time. Hopefully they enjoyed it and weren't put off moving up here.

A great effort all round especially to the hardy hare.

Down Downs:

  • STT for laying the trail either incredibly dedicated or in need of professional help. The weather will not stop the hash!
  • H2O Not Long Enough Just Sophie for turning out for the hash and hopefully will be seen again.
  • OHT & WN  who knows why?
