Here's to the Hare! Sir Tom Tom volunteered to hare this r*n at incredibly short notice, so short that he didn't have time to recce it all before the day of the hash. No matter, we were treated to a well-laid trail that had everything - large piles of flour, multiple chalked arrows, Wimps and Rambos split, Beer Stop, lost hounds . . .
The trail began by crossing a stone stile into a large field. The path led along the edge of the field for quite a way, and the hounds became quite spread out. After the field was a rough-ish path through a wood, then out into the open again.
Soon after getting out of the woods there was a sharp turn back on ourselves, marked with at least half a dozen blobs and arrows. None of these were spotted by the Knitting Circle however. They just kept going straight on, and on, and on . . .
Later, in the Circle, Baldbrick was berated by White Noise for not blowing his horn to guide those behind him. Your scribe can attest that the horn was blown, and loudly!
Around this time the lead Rambos were hitting the threatened fish hook. No More Cum chose to ignore it, Simple obeyed and set off back down the trail. He never saw the missing hounds who were far down the wrong path by then. Luckily the leading Wimps chose to use the fish hook as a regrouping point rather than chasing off looking for errant hashers.
Three Rambos took the "R" split, and they and three Wimps arrived at the Beer Stop in good order. Meanwhile the Hare was trying to track down the missing links. Telephonic communication was established and a rendezvous scheduled. All's well that ends well, and we all ended up back at the start point.
Down-downs in the Circle for the Hare STT for providing us with our fix of hashery, for No More Cum for skipping the fish hook and for the Knitting Circle (WN, OHT & FOTH) for ignoring the lack of marks on their chosen route.
