R*n 725: Silverdale

Well, this was novel, parking at Silverdale station for a short hop on the train to Arnside and the start of the run.

The ticket collector had suggested that a Santa Special train was close behind ours so we decided to wait , we waited and waited and eventually gave up and set off mainly to  prevent hypothermia and potential cardiac arrest. Bitter might have been more patient.

As promised, the trail went up and up and almost at the top of Arnside Knott, Antiseptic crashed spectacularly. Not wishing to damage her bionic shoulders she took it on the chin and concussed and bleeding she soldiered on.

We continued, taking in the local landmarks of Arnside Tower and the Pepperpot and journeyed through the woods to the Royal Hotel in Silverdale where drinks were on the hash and we regrouped.

Following this short pit stop, Thunderdick and Lurch set off to live hare the rest of the trail. the Rambo split visited Stankelt Well and the cliff path and the Wimps took a shortcut along the road.

The on inn was at the hares' house where we enjoyed mulled wine, soup, desserts, great views of wild scenery and weather.

Down downs went to Lurch for sending Large Package down all the false trails at checks, Upperskirt for fouling trail and snitching , Antiseptic for her hash crash. Cotside Manner and Belle looked mystified when they were given D2s and accused of bad behaviour for preventing us from visiting Woodlands pub (they simply don't allow children in the bar). The irony is, they are the BEST behaved of the hash, almost too sensible.

All in all it was a grand day out.
