This was our 1st visit. We also visited on...
A sea of happy faces greeted us when we finally arrived at the correct starting point having been up and down Warton main road several times in error. The hashers were either very pleased to see us after several months (unavoidable) absence OR they all had wind! Lots of hugs and kisses confirmed they were pleased to have us back in the hash bosom (especially when I offered chocolates round)! We were given hash instructions read from a script by BM and off we trotted following a live hare - Thunderdick. Lurch (attired in non-hash clothing) indicated he wouldn’t be doing much r*nning as he had the lurgy but after a few minutes, he was breathing down my neck trying to get past!
Lots of checks, lots of amazing views, lots of ups and downs and lots of shiggy finally saw us catching up with Thunderdick, however it was not due to our amazing speed. He had already set the Rambo trail and had just popped back to mark up a nice little fish-hook to keep us out of mischief.
The Wimps had already taken their leave at the beer stop when we Rambos arrived but they were soon overtaken on the very steep climb up to the Beacon. Less talking - more walking perhaps!
Bubbles was first back at the car park having been extremely brave (or foolhardy) having r*n down the fell despite the incredibly slippy track. I didn’t hang about but was certainly not going to attempt to r*n as I quite like my body in unbroken format.
We retired to the home of the hares and were welcomed by three different soups and homemade cakes from the hounds. The views across the moss from the dining room were amazing and would certainly have me struggling to get any work done if I lived there. Cot side Manner did a great job in selling the hash haberdash to us punters and a jolly time was had in the circle discussing the difference between prostrate and prostate (ably demonstrated by Lurch)!
Thanks to the very hospitable hares and the lovely cakes from the hounds. We are pleased to be back in the middle of the hash boobies! 😜
