R*n 149: Seathwaite Tarn

Saturday 9th July 2005 at 10:30am Weekend

Duddon Valley Weekend

What glorious, beautiful weather - definitely an improvement on the last Duddon weekend where gloves, scarves and waterproofs had been the order of the day! Swallows were catching flies, buzzards were mewing, sheep were standing round looking expectant and flowers were standing round*!%*. Who dictated this??

Anyway I have to report what we had for breakfast. Mashed potato and goats cheese, bagels and smoked salmon, fruit compote and yogurt, croissants. What taste we have in the Lune Valley!

We combined our cars to get to the start - where the Septics were lounging round - oh sorry no they weren't they were examining the flora! - flowers - not margarine!

Pick-me-up finally achieved her 100th run, and received her soon to be rusty tankard - 5 months after run 99!

The run was described and very accurate it was too!. Up, down, up, down, up, up, up, splash, splash, down, up and another down, splash, splash and then down downs!

We had illegal gatherings and illegal swimmings - but hey there are no rules on the hash.

There were FRBs with "bad" ankles, flapjacks, fallen trees, tall trees, flowers, bogs, wet feet, amazing views.

Saturday Down Downs

  • Forever Blowing as GM for weekend
  • Peter Pan for Alan, Alan who the *!%* is Alan
  • Illegal swimmers
  • Minor Tw*t for getting pulled by a dog last night
  • Queen Anne - the hasher formerly known as Dave
  • Tooth Fairy for being a great puller(?)
  • Whinger - probably for whinging - Can't quite remember!

And then onto the BBQ - which became Dinner rather then Lunch - but who cares!

Not enough burgers? Don't think so. We had dolmades and a free flowing fridge! A dry stone wall with rising damp! Hash drunk chasing sheep! Boules! A Crime scene investigation! Harry gained his colours as a sheep dog as a gate had been left open!!... Peter pan tried to sell us our own T shirts! a joke chair, definitely weighted to sheep jokes!.... Austin Powers gaining a sense of humour! Peter pan getting into deep water with Bacardi Spice! Scouse Count driving miles for petrol and charcoal! Queen Anne recycling the run!

Finally Wirral made a long cut to the pub, arriving ages after the rest of us, but the round table was complete and remained so until late in the night.
