The Four Musketeers - All for one and on on for all!
This r*n was almost hareless until Fiddler On The Hoof and Baldbrick stepped in at he last minute and saved the day, so we were not expecting a stellar turnout. In fact only four of us made it to the starting line. Stellar maybe not, but what stars! Only one Rambo, fortunately one who is not in the least directionally challenged and who never ever gets lost, but three of the finest super- ultra- mega-wimps money can buy (well, £3 anyway). Athletes of world renown, every one.
Free from the constraints of having to act as carers to the motley crew of superannuated, geriatric Rambos we normally attract, we made short work of the trail, and we had plenty of time to enjoy the merry-go-round, trampolines, and miniature railway in Happy Mount Park and still made it to the Beer Stop on schedule.
Baldbrick decided to relocate the Beer Stop by a couple of hundred yards. A matter of seconds for our super-fit quartet, but a logistical nightmare for Baldbrick, who fell foul of the barriers at the level crossing. Oh, how we laughed!
After enjoying a selection of BB's red-hot beers, 'twas but a short sprint to the finishing line. Down-downs for the Hares, but none for the Hounds, who had behaved impeccably at all times, meticulously observing all the fish-hooks.
Welcome refreshment at Cheyette's, which offered a good selection of snacks and light meals at very reasonable prices. Some of our number were reluctant to cross the threshold, having seen the words "fitness gym" above the door, and started hyperventilating, so we decided to remain outdoors. Bit like the scene in The Omen where they can't get Damien to go into the church.
A grand day out arranged at very short notice - thanks again, Hares
