This was our 1st visit. We also visited on...
Despite the horrible Friday afternoon traffic, all but two weekenders managed to pitch camp and assemble for the 7:00 on on at the campsite, the aforementioned two being Morticia and Lurch, though they did join us at the on inn.
So on on through Lanefoot Farm and on up heading for the woods, most of the pack straight away spotting a false arrow and ending up off-trail after only 100m! So on back to pick up true trail and into the woods, the hares took us up a deeply eroded stream bed, stark reminder of the December flood damage. We soon lost Upperskirt and White Noise, so Off His Trolley and I backtracked to see if we could pick them up at the last check, but no sign. We only found out later that the hares had given them a super-wimp short cut to the on inn.
The trail then took us down a very steep and slippery slope, luckily with a rail to hold, to a great view point ovelooking distant Derwent Water, and meandering through more woods to the Coledale Inn. Great pub, great evening, great hash. Thank you Bubbles and Forever Blowing.
The circle on the pub patio welcomed our visitors A N Other, Toy Boy, Pimp, Cockatool and Babe Magnet and our virgin Just Rob. The stroll back to the campsite in the dark was very pleasant and all got to bed with some trepidation because of the ominous weather forecast for Saturday, not least Antiseptic and I, the Saturday hares.
