Halton - Blue Moon R*n

A balmy late Summer’s evening greeted the equally barmy group of hashers who gathered at the Greyhound in Halton. We all set off after the minimum of formalities, remembering to wait for Morticia and Lurch who rolled up, as is their wont, with seconds to spare!

We were urged by the Hare not to hang about to make sure those eating got back before the chef knocked off for the night. The Wimps therefore set off at a cracking pace, keeping close to the Rambos for many minutes. The pack of hounds began to spread out slowly, but the Hash Horn could still be heard up front at the halfway point.

A W/R split occurred close to Woody’s car park, with the Wimps heading back along the riverbank towards Halton and the Rambos getting to enjoy the hilly path around the Crook ‘o Lune before rejoining the trail and chasing the still fast-moving Wimps.

All arrived safely back at the Greyhound, approximately an hour after setting out. Time was deemed too short for a circle so those who had pre-booked meals adjourned to the pub instead. Therefore, no D2s were awarded but should have gone to:

  • Antiseptic for over-egging the pudding; running earlier in the day and then running home after the hash
  • Baldbrick for short-cutting on the direct footpath to Woody’s car park
  • Upperskirt for haring and for booking the hash in at the pub as a “walking” group
  • Large Package for a customarily spectacular hash crash, on an easy smooth bit of the trail after having successfully negotiated all the trippy bits

The food seemed to be appreciated, even if there was a rather long wait for it. We all wondered what had happened to Wears the Soap who came into the pub but then disappeared.

All who r*n will agree it was a great hash, the perfect length for a full-mooner, with excellent trail marking and good company.

On! On!
