This was our 5th visit. We also visited on...
Let's start with a big thank you to the Hares, that's virgin Hare Pleasant and not so virgin, Bitter.
The trail was very well laid out and no Hashers were lost to my knowledge. It was no surprise that the trail took us over the local railway line Bitter being one of the Hares. As you may know he is well versed in the different types of trains and he was quick to impart some of his vast knowledge on the subject. For instance the difference between a "wood" train and a"lime" train!! Please don't ask as it will only annoy you and it's so bl***y obvious.
Anyway, moving on.. Choochoo!
Welcome the newbies, David and Louisa. David is an avid cyclist and Louisa is a marathon runner. Louisa was definitely a ringer, and if I didn't mention it earlier she is a secret ultra marathon runner! okay not really a secret but you get my drift.
Anyway, we were running together through the wooded area just approaching, yes you guessed it, the railway track, when she thought she spotted a dinosaur. Further inspection identified it as a gnarly old tree rather than a Tyrannosaurus Rex, try saying that after two San Miguels!
Much laughter,...not, ensued about gnarly old things but let's not go into that.
The route took us back to Scorton bypassing the local church and just as we caught up with the happy, chatty Wimps the heavens opened and everyone got a thorough soaking. The Greater Spotted Baldbrick was walking back to Stepping Stones Restaurant sans coat and looking very wet, but not his hair, just saying! He did however have a large brick around his neck with a smile to match, you couldn't write this stuff. Anyway, as always there was a simple explanation for walking with a brick slung around said neck for four miles. Baldbrick was approaching his 600th Hash and this was his penance and Pilgrimage, Nuff said!!!
So, to conclude there were lots of happy faces returned to Stepping Stones restaurant looking a touch bedraggled but contented no less. The mood lifted at the sight of Twisted standing gleefully waving the Union Jack and of course she was directing us to the bar area for a much deserved pint of beer or whichever your preference. It would be rude not to!!
Finally a special welcome as it was good to briefly chat with Marion and Mike all the way from rainy Aberdeen to travel down to rainy Lancashire for some good old Lancashire rain, banter and beer.
If Ive missed anyone out then my apologies but hope you all had a good day out.
On On, Plucker.
