Full MoonR*n 37 »

Silverdale

It was like old times again, a small but eager group assembled in the Silverdale Hotel car park at 7pm ready with hairy palms to howl at the full moon.  Hoooooowwwwwllll.

We all headed off together - but with something missing.  Yes, we know we haven't got a brain between us, but this time (for the first time?) we were WITHOUT HORN.  This later turned out to be a bit confusing as loud voices could be heard in the woods but with no bloody idea which direction they were coming from.  Maybe it was the big bad wolf.  That reminds me of a joke that Gimlet told later.

The big bad wolf was in the woods one day and bumped into Little Red Riding Hood who cried "Oh Mr Wolf what big ears you've got."  "All the better to hear you with" he replied.  "Oh Mr Wolf what big teeth you've got."  "All the better to eat you with" he replied.  "Oh Mr Wolf what big eyes you've got."  "That's 'cos I'm having a crap!" screamed Mr Wolf.

So off we went into the wilderness and very quickly the knitting circle formed with dropped stitches and the usual backchatters holding up the rear - you guessed - Forever Blowing and Pickmeup.  Still knackered from the previous day's marathon session (yes and that was just the barbi!!  Great day Addams family - thanks, we didn't want to leave, I'm sure you noticed) making up for the lack of progress on foot with our tongues.

The trail went through fields, past pretty cottages and wooded glades, through little ginnells and past some keen rock climbers in the woods - just like another fairytale.  Gimlet was running with his well worn-in now very very hash-sodden 99p plimsolls which he had only just christened the day before.  Making sure he got his money's worth.

The run was excellent, just the right length, a good fast bit at the end for the rambos and a quick shortcut back for the wimps.  Even the weather was kind while we ran - dry and warm.  It wasn't until we got inside later (the pub that is) that the rain came down once more and it felt like home.  Wet, windy and miserable - a typical June evening (sounds like Bubbles/No More Cum's tent at NashHash).  The circle was formed and stand-in RA was the admirable Gimlet who managed to give everyone a D2 just to make it even.

  • The Hares - Baldcock and Muff Diver just for being hares
  • Forever Blowing for forever opening bottles of wine at the barbi
  • Bubbles for I can't remember what - probably 'cos he never gets D2's
  • Hash Drunk for not shouting On Check
  • Forever Blowing and Pickmeup for holding up the rear
  • VD and Gonorrhoea to make the circle complete

The circle retreated to the welcoming On Inn where good food and drink were enjoyed by all.  The highlights being the Tossed Salad which promptly landed in Gonorrhoea's lap and Gimlet with his Hash sweatshirt on back to front.  Unfortunately the hares had to rush off straight after the circle to put out a fire.  We all said our goodbyes to the best On-on caller/down down singer Gimlet who sadly is going back south for a while - see you in August.
