This was our 1st visit. We also visited on...
It was a lovely day and the small crowd gathered in the Heron Mill Museum car park together with three four-legged hounds Harry, Mack (virgin hound from the AC household) and Max. The run started in Beetham where we ran past beautiful homes and gardens, seemingly in circles, but on on we went out in to the country. There were two wimp-rambo splits, the first of which we lost the two lonely rambos for a long long time including the beer stop. Now the beer stop... we seem to be making a habit of having beer stops in people's gardens, run 100 being no exception. It was a lovely spot in an enclosed garden where the conversation turned to chipping dogs so as not to lose them. We wondered what happened if dogs changed owners several times - and did this mean that the dog then had a hold load of chips on his shoulder! Mmmm. Harry, Mack and Max didn't seem impressed by this at all!!
Off we set again after the beer stop, still without rambos. We quickly came across the next wimp-rambo split and decided as we'd lost the rambos and were obviously well ahead of them, that we would take the rambo split. This perturbed Toothfairy somewhat, as she came haring towards us in the Fairymobile to check we knew where we were going. Not to let good trail go to waste, she decided to direct the rambos (when they eventually turned up) along the wimps trail.
The trail took us through a beautiful park and past grand buildings and the river. This is where we found Lurch, but where was Bubbles? Allegedly the first rambo trail had been so long that he couldn't be bothered to carry on and had therefore, taken a short cut back to the car park.
We came across a whole herd of deer, unfortunately Hash Drunk decided they were llama, his excuse being they were young and without antlers, thereby obviously being the exact double of llama!!??
The on inn trail was a nice long stretch where the dogs, the hashers and the harriets all ran along enjoying the scenery and the good weather. A good run, thank you hare.
Down downs were awarded to:-
We then debated what we should name Janet, but nothing good enough for our hash standards came to fruition. Another time Janet!
Run 100 was rounded off nicely with a chinese in the Golden Dragon, where we were joined by Slackbladder, Jane, White Noise and Baldbrick. Good food, drink and conversation flowed freely, not to mention Baldbrick's excellent jokes! This was rounded off by a visit to the beer festival where a selection of over 50 ales were available, washed down by Elementry Penguin playing well into the night.
Can we have another 100th Run some time, it was a good day.
